Baosteel self-developed galvalume product for LCD backplane has come into being for a year, and has greatly met downstream manufacturing industry's needs for material thinning and environmental-friendly production. The thickness and surface quality control standards have met international advanced level and it has successfully filled domestic blank and replaced imported products. Currently, the product has accounted for half of the domestic market, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Galvalume product for LCD backplane is mainly used to produce small-sized liquid crystal display and refrigerator backplane. As new generation of energy-saving green product, galvalume product for LCD backplane replaces traditional material, significantly reduces material costs, and cuts off manufacturing processes such as spraying, which may cause environmental pollution. At the same time, its performance such as strength, surface quality have more advantages over traditional material. Therefore, the product is widely favored by the customers. Take 32-inch or smaller LCD for example, in the past,  aluminum and electro-galvanizing sheets were adopted for the backplane material. At present, there are already 60% of the LCD backplane which adopts galvalume product.

Baosteel galvalume product manufacturing has been in the forefront in the country. By the end of 2009, Baosteel has set up galvalume product for LCD backplane with independent R & D team. Relying on the accumulation of years of galvalume production technology, product thickness is constantly thinning and surface quality has been increasing. In the first half of 2010, the product entered market.After a year of mass production and stable supply, Baosteel has become the largest product supplier of this product in domestic market, possessing well-known end-customers such as Sharp and Samsung.

At present, Baosteel's thinnest specifications of galvalume product for LCD backplane is of world advanced level. Meanwhile it has excellent strength and surface quality. In addition, with continuous develop and transplantation of technology, cold-rolled steel production units in Baosteel Co.,Ltd. cold rolling mill and Meishan Steel cold rolling mill  are equipped with galvalume product for LCD backplane production capacity.

It is known that, with the downstream industry material upgrading, this product is also expected for handheld displays and mobile displays. It has a bright application future.
