OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2011. On August 12-14 within the scope of implementation of the joint project with the Ministry of Culture of Finland Olonets will host the International music festival. Its purpose is distribution and popularization of national culture of the Finno-Ugric peoples, development and strengthening of international friendly, cultural and creative ties. More than 170 people are expected to take part in the festival – representatives of 17 ensembles from Olonets region, the Republic of Karelia and Finland.

Organization and carrying out of this even was initiated by L.Prokopenkova, art director of male chorus Terveh, briha (Olonets). The spadework concerning organization and carrying out of the festival was conducted since 2010. The festival is organized by the Olonets center of arts and leisure. The Ministry of Culture of Finland and the Administration of Olonets town have taken part in financing of activities of its program.

Within the framework of the festival stages of Olonets town and Olonets region will offer 7 concerts, including a concert of spiritual music, a rock concert, and a concert in memory of N.Dubalov, a trade fair of mushrooms and wild berries and products of gardens and farms, a festival of Karelian song, a meeting of writers and poets of Olonets region and Finland, an exhibition and sale of books and magazines.

A presentation Olonets: from the Past to the Future devoted to prospects of development of Olonets region within the framework of social partnership will take place in the village of Aleksala on August 13. Minister of Culture of the Republic of Karelia E.Bogdanova, Head of Olonets national municipal region G.Otstavnikhin, Head of the Administration of Olonets national municipal region O.Tervo, producer and director of the International music festival in Vaasa, Finland, Erkki Mendelin, chairman of the Association Karelian Society for Education, Finland, Eero Kempinen, representatives of the Finnish and Karelian public organizations are invited to the meeting.
