Deficit of Moldovan Trade Balance Up 28,6% in 1H
OREANDA-NEWS. August 15, 2011. Particularly, Moldovan exports in January-June 2011 totaled USD 1,000.5 mln, exceeding the indicators of the same period of 2010 by 64.9 percent; while imports grew 41.7 percent, to USD 2,375.4 mln, according to the National Statistics Office.
Moldovan supplies to the CIS states increased by 63.2 percent in comparison with the same period last year, to USD 388.7 mln, and to the European Union’s states – by 67.5 percent, to USD 498.2 mln. The CIS states’ share in the total Moldovan exports went down in this period to 38.8 percent from 39.2 percent, and the share of the EU states grew to 49.8 percent from 49 percent.
In the first half of 2011, Moldova increased imports from the CIS states by 44.5 percent – to USD 777.8 mln, from the EU states – by 42.8 percent – to USD 1,056.2 mln. The share of the CIS states in the total Moldovan imports reduced from 32.1 percent to 32.7 percent, that of the EU states – increased from 44.1 percent to 44.5 percent. The deficit of the balance of trade of Moldova with the EU states in January-June this year grew 26.2 percent – to USD 558 mln, with the CIS states – 29.6 percent, to USD 389.1 mln.
The degree of coverage of imports by exports in the first half-year amounted to 42.1 percent against 36.2 percent for the same period last year.
The biggest deficit of trade in January-June this year was with Ukraine - USD 222.5 mln (+24.8% in comparison with the same period last year). It was followed by: China - USD 171.7 mln (+32.2%), Turkey - USD 124.4 mln (2.3 times), Germany - USD 123.5 mln (+30,5%), Russia – USD 122.8 mln (+1%), Romania - USD 92.2 mln (+49.5%), Italy - USD 70.3 mln (+29%), Belarus – USD 41.8 mln (3.9 times), Austria – USD37.8 mln (+58.3%), Hungary – USD 37.6 mln (+51%).
