OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2011. Experts of TatNIPIneft (part of TATNEFT Group of companies) have developed a double-acting pumping system technology, which is used successfully at the wells of NGDU Almetyevneft, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

Implementation of the double-acting pumping system technology is based on the application of electrical centrifugal pump installations (ESP) with injection of a certain part of produced associated water into the upper water taking layer.

The principle of the technology operation is based on the fact that the productive (lower) and the water taking (upper) layers exposed with a common filter are isolated by packer M1-X. The installation of the double-acting pumping system provides for gravity separation of oil and water in the borehole. During the system operation the highly watered products from the reservoir enter the pumping system through the liner, and from the pumping system the water is discharged into the annuls and then into the water taking layer, while the oil with a small content of water is lifted up to the wellhead.

The technology allows reducing the cost of transportation and pumping of the output, and also assists in recovery of hard-to-recover reserves through injecting highly mineralized brine.
