OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2011. JSW Steel Limited reported Crude Steel production of 5.99 lacs tons, with a growth of 15% for July'2011 compared to that of corresponding month in the last fiscal year.

During the month the Company commenced its Blast Furnace-4 and Sinter Plant-4 as a part of 3.2 MTPA expansion project at Vijayanagar Works on 20th July 2011 and these units are under trial run.

In view of the suspension of mining and transportation of Iron ore in Bellary district by the Honourable Supreme Court of India vide its order dt. 29/07/2011, the Company had to cut its production by about 35% due to shortage of Iron ore. The production in July 2011, would have been higher had the suspension and transportation of mining of Iron ore not been there. However, following the Honourable Supreme Court order dt. 05/08/2011 permitting NMDC to mine upto 1 million tones per month, the company restored the production to 80% of installed capacity.
