OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2011. Baosteel receives more than 2,000 tons of Xinjiang Kongur hydroelectric plant 80KG high-strength steel order and the delivery is in good condition. This is the first time that Baosteel product of this level officially enters the supply market, marking the full range of coverage of Baosteel high-strength heavy plate steel products (all three specifications: common vessel steel, 60KG and 80KG level hydroelectric steel) in domestic hydroelectric industry, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Compared with the currently widely used 60KG (and below) product, 80KG hydroelectric steel, mainly used in high-head, pump storage power plant has a greater resilience and  obvious advantages in reduction of material and realization of green environment. Back in 2009, collaborative team composed of Baosteel Co.,Ltd. manufacturing department, heavy plate sales department, Baosteel Research Institute, Baosteel International Western Company began to actively promote the 80KG high strength steel's application in the domestic related field and its substitution of imports. Collaborative team met with relevant government departments, domestic universities and research institutes, conducted technical exchanges on the product's manufacturing, technology assessment, production and processing, and carried out trial work.

With the collaborative efforts of team members, Baosteel 80KG steel promotion work has major breakthrough and officially enters supply market. It is known that during the supply for Xinjiang Kongur power station Baosteel technical personnel provide customers with tracking service on product on-site application, technical coordination and the formulation of various types of related solutions. Baosteel hopes to take this as opportunity, and through the integrated service model, lay foundation for the speed up of 80KG hydroelectric high strength steel marketing in future.
