OREANDA-NEWS. August 9, 2011. Following the results of the 2nd quarter of 2011, the total amount of MOD insurance compensations paid by IC ROSNO equalled 1,001,355 thousand roubles, which is 16% higher than in the same period of the previous year.

Just as in the 2nd quarter of 2010, the majority of insured accidents (53%) pertained to the risk of damage from traffic accidents. The insurance compensations in these cases exceeded 680 million roubles. As compared to the previous year, there was slightly lower quantity of stolen cars (74 cases), while the number of fire-related insured accidents increased (28 cases). Despite the fact that such accidents happen to insurants not so often (generally accounting for no more than 0.5% of all insured accidents), the average compensation for such accidents (1,139,127 roubles per stolen car and 755,606 per fire) is much larger than for the risk of damage from traffic accidents, where the average compensation is as high as 65,569 roubles. Notably, the 2nd quarter has seen an increase in the quantity of loss proofs under the risk of damage from unlawful third party actions. Under this risk, the company settled 1,929 insured accidents for the total amount of 61,720,219 roubles.

"Overall, the 2nd quarter of 2011 was quite calm, with no serious natural cataclysms that would increase the number of insured accidents. With the onset of the summer season, clients became rarer guests at car maintenance stations, as they prefer to postpone repairing small malfunctions till autumn. It is also noteworthy that during the peak of summer vacations roads are less loaded, leading to lower number of traffic accidents. However, we now see another trend — a growing number of loss proofs under the risk of damage from unlawful third party actions. This season, the „hit“ is the stealage of car state registration number plates and demanding ransom therefor. In this respect, insurants have to know that, since number plates are property of the state and not a private property, such cases do not constitute insured accidents", comments the results of the 2nd quarter of 2011 Mr. Andrey Chechelov, Head of the Motor Losses Appraisal Department at Moscow Regional Directorate of OJSC IC ROSNO.
