OREANDA-NEWS. August 09, 2011. European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have invited Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat to participate in the Eastern Partnership Summit, due in Warsaw, Poland, on 29-30 September 2011, according to the government's communication and press relations department.

Poland, which holds the presidency of the European Union, will host this event. Herman Van Rompuy will chair the summit in Warsaw.

"The Warsaw Summit will be an opportunity to prove our commitment towards the Eastern Partnership, as well as to assess our efforts to efficiently implement the partnership. Also, the summit will allow us debating the future of the Eastern Partnership as an ambitious policy of the European Union and its European partners, including through the light of further development of joint initiatives at the bilateral and multilateral levels," the invitation by Herman Van Rompuy and Donald Tusk said.

The event will start with a working dinner meant for strategic discussions between the officials. A plenary session will be held on 30 September, when the officials will focus on comprehensive talks and will adopt a common declaration.

"All of us have great expectations from this meeting", the invitation said.

Attending the event will be heads of state and government from 27 EU member countries and from six states of the Eastern Partnership, as well as European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, European Parliament Speaker Jerzy Buzek, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Catherine Ashton, representatives of civil society and business environment.

Another two important events are to be held on the sidelines of the summit: a conference of the Eastern Partnership on civil society, due in Warsaw, and the first Business Forum of the Eastern Partnership, due in Sopot.
