OREANDA-NEWS. August 8, 2011. From July 1 Rostelecom-Siberia updated Twist interactive IPTV services. The Operator has considerably expanded broadcast grid and changed names and cost of some packages and services.

Thus, the total number of TV channels within interactive TV broadcast grid increased from 84 to 125. Now Twist subscribers can get access to channels groups of various subjects: for example, 12 film channels, 11 music channels, 17 educational channels and 7 sports channels.

The names and content of some packages have been changed.

The number of channels in the most popular Basic (formerly Standard) package increased from 71 to 109, Social (formerly Economic) package increased the number of channels from 21 to 27 and Adult (formerly Private) increased the number of channels from 2 to 4. A set and number of channels varies with a region.

Due to the current market situation the cost of two TV packages was adjusted: now Basic is 220 rubles per month and Adult is 150 rubles per month. 

‘New changes introduced in tariff policy have touched not only new but also existing Twist service subscribers, so we tried to make these changes not so dramatic for our subscribers’ charges’ said Valery Belenky, Deputy Vice Pesident, Director of Siberia macro-regional branch of Rostelecom OJSC –‘ We have particularly cut the amount of monthly rental payment for Set-Top-Box TV-console by 30 rubles and Pending review service became free.’

In accordance with the proposed Twist service Rostelecom provides both quality digital video signals over the IP net and a wide selection of interactive services such as Video on demand    (VoD), e-TV program, Network video recorder and Pending review. In addition, the platform used by Rostelecom enables subscribers to watch weather forecasts, exchange rates and updates for this service. Furthermore, Rostelecom made a scheme to reserve reception of satellite channels ensuring stable broadcasting within 24 hours.

In the first quarter 2011 Twist service subscriber base in Siberia exceeded 55 thousand subscribers.
