OREANDA-NEWS. August 08, 2011. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on regions of Ukraine to develop closer cooperation with the countries of Asia. It was stressed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Viktor Maiko during the videoconference with the regions devoted to foreign policy and economic priorities of Ukraine in the world. Participation in the event was attended by representatives of Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Odessa.

"Intensification of relations with the countries of Asia should not be a temporary, and long-term prospect", - he stressed.

According to the diplomat, with Central, South and Southeast Asia in the last year the dialogue is much improved, promoted by visits of the President and government officials to these countries. In particular, the Ukrainian President visit to China has made it possible to conclude with this country a framework agreement on investment of 10 billion million dollars to the development of Ukraine. With Japan concluded a credit agreement for 100 million USD, with India - a contract to supply "Motor-Sich" products cost of 100 million USD.

Victor Majko emphasized that in the current and next year Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans catch up "everything that was lost in its relations with Asian countries in the last years". In this context, he noted that particularly with Vietnam negotiation process is not conducted for 15 years. The visit of Viktor Yanukovych to Singapore generally was held the first time. Mortgaged also the serious the prospects of cooperation with Mongolia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and other countries of the region.

In addition, according to the diplomat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on September 14 will be presented investment opportunities of Zhytomyr region, September 28 - Zaporizhia region. The event will be attended by representatives of embassies and international companies. The Deputy Minister assured that such meetings will be regular.
