OREANDA-NEWS. August 5, 2011. The structure of executive authorities of Karelia has been amended. According to the Decree of the Government of the republic the State Control Committee of the Government of the Republic of Karelia is established.

The chief aim of functioning of the new committee is to increase efficiency of activity of executive bodies of the Government of Karelia. The committee will control activities of ministries and state committees of the Republic of Karelia. Monitoring of efficiency of performance of their functions by enforcement authorities, the legislation will be also enhanced.

The State Control Committee of the Government of the Republic of Karelia is delegated functions of the Administration of the Head of the Republic of Karelia concerning provision of activities of the Head of the Republic of Karelia and Government of the Republic of Karelia in the sphere of monitoring the execution of commissions of the Head of the Republic of Karelia concerning execution of commissions of the President of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, other control functions.

The Decree also provides delegation of analytic functions, functions concerning organization of office work, release of documents of the Head of the Republic of Karelia and Government of the Republic of Karelia, public complaints and appeals handling.

The new committee is being formed currently. Its Chairman will be a Cabinet Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia.

The Government Decree also abolishes the State Committee of the Republic of Karelia for Development of Local Self-Government. Its functions are delegated to the Administration of the Head of the Republic of Karelia, the State Law Committee of the Republic of Karelia, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and the State Committee of the Republic of Karelia for Administration of State Property and Placing of Orders for State Requirements.

The structure of the Government of the republic is amended within the established staff numbers of executive bodies and supply expenditures.
