OREANDA-NEWS. August 5, 2011. On August 3 acting Head of Karelia Yuri Kancher has held a working meeting with the Vice-President of the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) Mr.Kari Homanen.

Acting Minister of Finance of Karelia Alexei Maksimov, Deputy Head of the Administration of Petrozavodsk urban district and chairman of the Committee for Administration of Municipal Property and Land Tenure Evgeny Freidin, general executive director of Petrozavodsk municipal systems Alexander Safronov, employees of the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation, Ministry of Finance of the republic, Petrozavodsk municipal systems have also attended the meeting.

Participants of the working meeting have discussed issues concerning NEFCO's participation in the project on reconstruction of water treatment works in the capital of Karelia.

Let's remind, in 2010 the first phase of reconstruction of water treatment works of Petrozavodsk was completed. New filters have remove excessive chromaticity and smell of water. Now the Government of Karelia is actively searching for options of financing of the further reconstruction of water treatment works of the city.

The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation is ready to take part in this project and to issue a long-term credit to Petrozavodsk municipal systems for these purposes. Besides, matters concern provision of grants for modernization of sewage-purification facilities of Petrozavodsk.

Let's add, that NEFCO is an international financial organization founded by governments five Nordic countries and owned by them. NEFCO finances investment projects in Russia and Ukraine, in the Baltics and Belarus with the purpose to improve environmental situation in the North of Europe.
