Subaru Automobile Production in U.S. Hits 2 mn Units
OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2011. Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today has announced its Subaru automobile production subsidiary in the US, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA), reached the 2 million-unit cumulative automobile production, July 29, 2011. It has been 22 years since the start of production with the Legacy model in 1989, reported the press-centre of Fuji Heavy Industries.
SIA began automobile production with the "Legacy" model in 1989, and added production of the "Outback" in 1995 and the "Tribeca" in 2005. It has been supplying those models mainly to customers in North American markets. SIA achieved a record annual production volume of 158,022 units (+90.8% year-on-year basis) in 2010.
