Gazprom, Brunei Darussalam Discussed Prospects for Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2011. A meeting took place between Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and a delegation from Brunei Darussalam. The delegation was led by Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Mohammad Yasmin Umar, Energy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, reported the press-centre of Gazprom.
The meeting participants discussed the possible areas of cooperation between Gazprom and Brunei in the gas sector. The parties pointed out a high potential of joint energy projects on hydrocarbons production, processing and marketing.
Background
By the beginning of 2011 Brunei’s proven natural gas reserves amounted to 301 billion cubic meters. The bulk of the reserves are concentrated in the Southwest Ampa field.
Brunei exports liquefied natural gas under long-term contracts. Nearly 5.9 and 0.7 million tons are annually supplied to Japan and South Korea respectively.
