Ukraine to Eliminate Deficit of Bread Products
OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2011. This year's grain harvest with a reserve provides the internal needs of the country, and forming a record food supplies will avoid deficit of bread products. Announced the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
The Head of Agricultural Policy said that to ensure food security sown area of grain this year was increased to 440,000 hectares. In particular, significantly expanded plantings of buckwheat, millet, maize and sugar beet. "By increasing the area of crops, making a record amount of fertilizers and buying new high performance combines, which moved within the mechanized harvesting units from south to north, we were able to effectively organize and gather the harvest record crops ", - said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
According to the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food, this year in Ukraine will be harvested 47.4 million tons of grain, at 8.1 million tons more than the previous year. The average yield is 29.9 quintals per hectare, which is also much higher than last year.
This amount with reserve covers domestic needs of the country into grain. However, in order to reinsured, it is planned to record their food supplies by the Agrarian Fund. "This year for the financing of agrarian fund sent more than 7 billion UAH. The money will form a powerful state stock of food that will ensure food safety", - said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
The Minister also reminded that today begin preparing to planting winter crops for harvest in 2012. These will be planted 9.2 million hectares, equal to last year. Ukrainian farmers are provided by seeds to 101%. Currently, the ground preparation done on the area 3.3 million hectares (36% to forecast).
Today continues purchasing agricultural producers of mineral fertilizers for entering the harvest next year. As of July 28, considering the transitional balances, there is about 134.5 thousand tons of nutrients that are 28% to the application (474 thousand tons).
