Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Develops Port Infrastructure
OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2011. The group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” continues to modernize cargo terminals and port infrastructure within the implementation of full-scale programme of development.
In particular, starting from the beginning of this year the group of companies carries out works on reconstruction of railway tracks and facilities at the First and Second Cargo area of the port. These works will secure uninterrupted flow of trains and modernization of the cranes. It is planned that these works will make it possible to increase metal handling capacities of the terminals up to 500 thousand tons per month.
Additional storage capacities for import cars and containers are being constructed at the territory of “Fourth Stevedoring Company” (part of the group of the companies “Sea Port of SPb”).
Starting from the beginning of 2011 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred about 470 mln. rubles, all in all it is planned to transfer over 1.1 bln. rubles for these purposes.

It handles all types of dry cargoes; operates by modern specialized terminals for handling of container, reefer, ro-ro cargoes, cars, metals and coals. The group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” includes CJSC “Fourth Stevedoring Company”, LLC “Multipurpose Reloading Complex” in Ust-Luga and a number of service companies. In 2010 the turnover of the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” amounted to 12.1 mln. tons of cargoes.
The development programme of port infrastructure of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” envisages the construction of specialized handling facilities on the territory of the stevedoring companies, included in UCL Holding, which will make it possible to increase the handling turnover of the holding up to 20 mln. tons per year and attract the more profitable cargo flows to all divisions of the holding.
