EBRD Plans to Provide EUR 10 mn to Moldova in 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2011. It was said by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Resident Representative in Moldova Libor Krkoska, noting that the Bank has already approved allocation of 45 million euros this year for implementation of five projects in Moldova.
It is planned that credit agreements on three more projects will be signed in the near future. Libor Krkoska emphasized that the most part of the credit funds provided by the EBRD would be used to implement projects of provision with drinking water, construction of roads, enhancement of the energy efficiency. The EBRD Resident Representative in Moldova noted the EBRD’s readiness to fund construction of the high-voltage transmission line Balti-Suceava and of the Ungheni-Iasi gas pipeline for the interconnection of the gas and electricity infrastructure of Moldova and Romania.
The EBRD will also realize a number of projects aimed at modernizing Chisinau municipality’s infrastructure and will continue to provide loans to Moldovan banks to support small and medium-sized enterprises, to assist exports. Moldova became the EBRD member on May 5, 1992. During its activity in Moldova, the EBRD has invested over 460 million euros in different sectors of economy and helped attract additional investments in the amount of over 320 million euros.
