OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2011. At the site of the company "Voronezhsintezkauchuk", work has begun on the construction of a new complex for the production of modern road materials — butadiene-styrene thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). The designed capacity of the new complex will be 50 thousand tonnes per annum. "Voronezhsintezkauchuk" is the only Russia-based TPE manufacturer with an output volume of 35 thousand tonnes per annum, which is substantially lower than the actual level of demand on the domestic market.

Planned investments in construction will amount to more than 3.8 billion rubles.

The opening ceremony of the construction site was attended by the Deputy Premier of the Voronezh Region Dmitry Markov, who is also the Head of the Department of Industry, Transport, Communication and Innovation, SIBUR Senior Executive Vice-President Vladimir Razumov, and SIBUR Vice-President Andrei Zhvakin.

"World practice has long ago proven the effectiveness of polymers in modern road construction. We hope that, thanks to such a production approach, the quality of road surfaces in our country will continue to improve, and that the Voronezh Region will receive a powerful impetus for further development," stated Vladimir Razumov. "We are grateful to the Voronezh Region authorities for governmental support of investment projects aimed at boosting employment, increasing the tax base, and reducing the national economy’s dependence on imports with respect to key innovative products."

The new complex will be built on the site of the previously decommissioned and dismantled production facilities. The TPE-50 project has passed through all of the necessary stages of public hearings, the public review of project documentation, and has obtained all required permits for the construction. The construction is slated for completion by the end of 2012.
