Turkmenistan and Russia to Expand Fruitful Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2011. A meeting with the members of the delegation of the Astrakhan Oblast of the Russian Federation led by Alexander Klykanov, Chairman of the State Duma of the Astrakhan Oblast, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital a day before, was held at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
The guests were informed in detail of the priority aspects of the policy of the Turkmen state and key aspects of the large-scale social and economic programmes implemented under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
A focus of the lively discussions was the approaches to expanding fruitful Turkmen-Russian cooperation developed successfully in many spheres as was vividly evidenced by the Days of Culture of the Astrakhan Oblast in Turkmenistan and this inter-parliamentary meeting – the first one held at the level of regions of the Russian Federation.
Enhancement of the inter-parliamentary dialogue, exchange of experience in lawmaking activity and intensification of fruitful humanitarian contacts between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan Oblast of the Russian Federation based on the historically established ties between the near neighbours united by the Caspian Sea were mentioned among the priority spheres along with further promotion of mutually beneficial economic partnership. In this context emphasis was put on the importance of close cooperation in such spheres as education and personnel training, culture and ecology.
