OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2011. The DnB NORD Bank is seeking to inform its clients that people who do or even do not have a relationship with the bank have been receiving fake E-mails that supposedly are sent by the bank itself.  The bank calls on people to do nothing with the Internet link that is in such E-mails and to erase them immediately, reported the press-centre of DnB NORD Bank.

The links in the fraudulent E-mails lead to an Internet site which asks the person to enter his or her user name, password and codes.  The site is very similar to the DnB NORD Bank's iNORD page in visual terms, but it is fake.

The bank itself never, ever sends E-mails of this type – ones which ask clients to enter Internet banking data on a Website.  The DnB NORD Bank reminds everyone that the iNORD system is accessible at www.dnbnord.lv and the direct address – https://www.inord.lv.

This type of fraud is known as "phishing," with criminals trying to mislead people into providing them with confidential banking information.

Should any DnB NORD Bank client have suspicions about a transaction or a received E-mail, letter or call, please contact the bank immediately (info@dnbnord.lv, telephone 1880).  The Bank is always concerned about the security of its clients, and timely information about suspicious situations will help it to inform clients of possible attempts at fraud quickly so that the crime can be prevented.
