OREANDA-NEWS. July 26, 2011. Baosteel holds its 2011 oriented silicon steel customer forum and satisfaction survey annual meeting. This is the first time that Baosteel holds customer forum since its first production of oriented silicon steel. The forum clarifies the development focus of oriented silicon steel in the next phase: lowering manufacturing costs, optimizing product structure, enhancing customer service capabilities, and making efforts for product upgrading and meeting the needs of national energy development, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

After a decade of hard work, based on independent R&D, integration and construction, Baosteel produced successfully its first volume of oriented silicon steel on May 15, 2008. For three years, mass production of low temperature high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel, laser-scriber oriented silicon steel break the monopoly of imports in China for the first time. The sales increases every year, which contributes to the overall production level of China's oriented silicon steel. It is successfully used in Three Gorges Right Bank Underground Power Station and a number of large domestic transformer manufacturing projects. The products are also exported to 15 countries and regions including Japan and Korea.

With the development of national economy and the start of 12th five-year plan, the construction and development of China's power industry will meet with new historical opportunity and oriented silicon steel demand will grow steadily. As a transformer manufacturing material supplier, on the basis of preliminary results, Baosteel will continue to tap the potential, meet with challenges, and promote the sustainable development of products and services. As for lowering production costs, it will further develop new technology, increase the production line process control and improve the overall finished product rate. As for variety expansion and optimization it will expand the proportion of thin specification products for high-end transformers. As for marketing and customer service upgrade, it will continue to expand co-operation with key transformer customers at home and abroad, adhere to customer-oriented principle and the pursuit of long-term stable cooperation. It will continue to strengthen key high-end transformer network authentication such as in State Grid and Southern Power Grid.

Baosteel stresses at the forum that Baosteel oriented silicon steel is totally new on the market. Its achievement today depends on the customer's support and cooperation. In the future, Baosteel will establish closer relationships with customers and make due contribution to national energy strategy and environmental protection strategy in aspects of product certification, meeting the needs and services.
