Vodka Output in Transnistria Catches Up with Cognac Production
OREANDA-NEWS. July 26, 2011. Transnistria produced 1.24 million liters of vodka in the 1st half-year, which is 27.8% more than one year ago.
According to the regional economy ministry, the cognac output amount remained at the last-year level – 1.3 million liters.
Besides, the regions produced 29 thousand liters of liquors (up 20.8%), 150 thousand liters of liqueurs and 550 thousand liters of divine (down 16.1%).
Beer output went up almost one third – to 4.01 million liters, though only the Bendery beer factory goes in for its production in Transnistria.
Vodka production concentrates at factories of the concern Sheriff in Tiraspol and Ribnita.
The absolute majority of cognacs are outputted by the Tiraspol wine and cognac plant – Kvint – 1.26 million liters, while the share of it Ribnita production is 10 thousand liters and the rest of it – Dubossary winery Buket Moldavii [Bouquet of Moldova].
Infotag’s dossier: In the neighboring country – Ukraine – vodka production went down 30.7% to 135 million liters in 1H2011 as compared with the analogous period of 2010. However, cognac output increased by 17.4% – to 15 million liters.
