OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2011. Prime Minister Vlad Filat met a Czech business delegation made up of representatives of leading Czech companies, including state-run ones, the government's communications and press relations department has said.

The sides discussed trade and investment opportunities in Moldova.

The foreign business people expressed their interest in the launch of investment projects in Moldova, noting that the country offers a wide range of production, trade and export opportunities. They said that during discussions with several Moldovan ministers, they had been informed about concrete projects that are being launched and that might require the participation of Czech investors. Moreover, they said that the companies they represent are willing to share their experience in such fields as energy, industrial constructions, including the construction of bridges, roads, exhibition centres, underground and multi-story parking garages, water cleaning stations, etc.

"We hope that the economic ties between our countries will foster, as they have a much greater potential," the director-general of the Viktovice power engineering, Martin Pecina, said.

Filat welcomed the Czech business people's interest in Moldova and urged them to seriously consider their participation in the projects launched in Moldova and to come out with suggestions for new projects.

Filat noted that the two countries have always had good bilateral relations, mentioning that Moldova is willing to boost the economic and investment cooperation with the Czech Republic. He described as relevant the fields mentioned by the Czech business people and gave assurances that the Moldovan government will take the steps necessary to turn the interest displayed by the Czech business people into investments that will bring about benefits to their companies and to Moldovan citizens.

"The infrastructure projects are a priority for us. We lay the emphasis on the projects based on the public-private partnerships," the prime minister said, referring in particular to road overhaul, development of railway transport and energy security.

Invited to visit a Czech enterprise on the sidelines of his official visit to the Czech Republic due in autumn 2011, Prime Minister Vlad Filat accepted the invitation, noting that during his official visits abroad, the economic aspect has always played an important role, in order to establish as many contacts between foreign and Moldovan economic agents as possible.
