OREANDA-NEWS. July 22, 2011. Participants of fourth interregional scientific and practical conference “Issues of environmental safety and environment control” which took place in Irkutsk on June 1-2, discussed the issues of condition and control of environment in the Irkutsk region. According to the presentations given, environment control issues are very topical in the Irkutsk region, there are many immediate problems that need to be solved and environment control mechanisms are to be perfected.

Conference was organized by the ministry of natural resources and ecology of the Irkutsk region, Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage (Rosprirodnadzor) Directorate at the Irkutsk region, Irkutsk scientific center of Siberian branch of RAS, LLC SIO Soprovozhdenie Avtomatizirovannykh Raschetov. 150 people participated in the conference. Among them were representatives of the Irkutsk regional and municipal administrations, representatives of federal authorities, industrial enterprises, project and scientific institutions, universities, NGOs. More than 30 presentations were made; the key topics were: main tasks in the area of environment control during the development of industrial capacities of the Irkutsk region; issues of flora and fauna safety; modernization of state control system in the area of environmental safety.

JSC  Irkutskenergo was represented at this conference by Lyudmila Galenskaya, the head of the department for environmental security and rational usage of natural resources, who pointed out that one of the main targets of JSC  Irkutskenergo is sustainable development along with preservation and increase of environment quality, providing reliable and environmentally safe production. In 2011, JSC  Irkutskenergo planned circa 130 mln RUR for environmental activities.
