Rompetrol Group Announces Winners of Its Programme
OREANDA-NEWS. July 22, 2011. The Rompetrol Group selected 19 corporate social responsibility projects for its third edition of the national programme referred to as „Together for each and everyone”. The budget allocated for the implementation of these projects amounts to USD 275,000 USD.
“After two years of very good results – 36 projects implemented, approximately 200,000 direct and indirect beneficiaries – it was only natural to continue this programme as a company permanently concerned with the development and support of the communities in which we carry out our activity. We received very good project proposals in 2011 too, which address the real needs of the local communities. The selection was difficult to make, but it was the applicants proving both their social entrepreneurial skills and their capacity to bring together the community members who are both the implementers and the beneficiaries of these projects that made the difference”, Oana Nastase, the Rompetrol Group Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager said.
The „Together for each and everyone” programme offered the non-government organisations, local authorities and civic-minded and enterprising private individuals the chance to apply between 21 April and 12 June 2011 for health care or environmental protection projects intended to help their respective communities develop. Thus, 195 projects (72 environmental and 123 health care projects) have been submitted on the programme website www.impreunapentrufiecare.ro, and then reviewed and assessed on site between 13 June and 8 July.
The 19 projects were declared winners based on the public votes given on Facebook and the website (weighting 25%) and on the decision of a jury consisting of Rompetrol representatives and NGO specialists (weighting 75%). Upon the evaluation of the projects, the jury considered the social motivation and the local impact: the number of the people influenced by the respective issue, the number of the volunteers in the community who are able to get involved in solving the problem. Also, the applicant had to establish a partnership with the local authorities, and to prove the mutual long-term commitment to develop and maintain the results of the project submitted.
Eligible health care projects are: refurbishment, rehabilitation and/or equipping of the health care service units and auxiliary public health care units; eligible environmental protection projects are: preservation and maintenance / improvement of the local existent environmental conditions through various activities (sun panels installation, construction of eco-friendly wastewater treatment plants, heat pump installation, rehabilitation of bad lands). The budget allocated per project is no higher than RON 45,000.
The 10 health care and the 9 environmental projects selected for implementation in 2011 are located in the counties of Bihor, Braila, Botosani, Caras Severin, Cluj, Constanta, Hunedoara, Neamt, Prahova, Sibiu, Tulcea, Teleorman, Vaslui.
In 2009 and 2010, 600 projects were submitted to the “Together for each and everyone” programme, and 36 local communities were granted funds for their projects (
