RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results: July 4-8, 2011

OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2011. Over the week of July 4-8, 2011, the RTS Index went up by 1.08% to reach 1,958.40 points (1,937.57 points as of July 1, 2011). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of JSC  “LUKOIL” (LKOHS) (plus 4.25 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali  (URKAS) (plus 3.20 points) and "OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (plus 2.53 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 1.15% to reach 11,677.21 points (11,544.74 points as of July 1, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 2.78% closing at 2,275.57 points (2,214.01 points as of July 1, 2011).

Last week’s growth on the stock market was accompanied by a decrease of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went down by 3.37% to reach 22.06 points (22.83 points as of July 1, 2011).

Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index adding 3.72%. In addition, a significant growth was showed by power and consumer sectors, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index and RTS Consumer & Retail Index going up by 3.27% and 2.39% respectively. A decline was reported only by the finance sector, with the RTS Finances Index losing 0.17%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 1.83%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.40% against the ruble to reach 27.99 rubles per US dollar (27.87 rubles as of July 1, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of July 4-8, 2011 equaled USD11.85 billion (330.50 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,585.75 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,367.88 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD425.45 million and ordinary shares of JSC  “LUKOIL” (LKOH) with a turnover of USD308.22 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 52.46%, 16.32% and 11.82% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of "IDGC of Volga, JSC" (MRKV)  that went up by 54.05% to USD0.00570, followed by ordinary shares of Synergy, Co (SYNG)   – by 20.88% to reach USD41.40 and "IDGC of Center and Volga Region, JSC" (MRKP) that added 18.13% to reach USD0.01.

The week's top losers were preferred shares of OJSC "Rostelecom" that fell 10.77% to reach USD3.123 followed by RDR of Sberbank representing rights on ordinary shares of of United Company RUSAL Plc (RUAL) that lost 0.81% to reach USD13.55 and ordinary shares of JSC Acron (AKRN) that lost 0.21% to reach USD48.40.
