1H Volumes for Ventspils Nafta Terminals Increase by 24%
OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2011. In the first half of 2011 Ventspils nafta terminals (VNT) handled nearly six million tonnes, which is 24% or 1.2 million tonnes more than in the same period in 2010. June’s volume was 852,400 tonnes, 48,000 tonnes more than in June 2010.
In the first half of the year the largest element of products handled was diesel fuel via the pipeline which during this period reached just over 3 million tonnes, making up more than 50% of the total. The next largest element is diesel fuel transhipped by rail of 1.9 million tonnes, which is more than one-third of the total.
The amount of products handled in the second quarter of the year exceeds the previous quarter’s data by around 62,000 tonnes.
The shares of SIA Ventspils nafta terminals are owned by 51% by one of the major holdings in the Baltic States – the public joint stock company Ventspils nafta. Whereas 49% of shares are owned by Eurotank Holding Sarl, a company of the international terminal operating company VTTI.
VNT provides transit services – reception of oil and diesel fuel through pipelines, reception of diesel fuel, gasoline and other petroleum products by rail and sea, storage and handling. VNT is the largest terminal company in the region with 1.2 million cubic metres of crude oil and oil product storage.
