BHEL Achieves Major Landmark

BHEL had won the order for the 2x525 MW
Significantly, this was the first order secured by BHEL for the new rating units of 525 MW each and a testimony to the customer’s confidence in the company’s capabilities and proven technological excellence. Subsequently, BHEL has secured orders for four more such units, taking the number of 525 MW sets contracted to six sets, so far.
BHEL’s scope of work in the project envisaged design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of Steam Generators, Turbine Generators, Electrostatic Precipitators and associated auxiliaries, besides state-of-the-art Controls and Instrumentation (C&I).
BHEL has fully established state-of-the-art technology for the manufacture of thermal sets up to 1,000 MW rating. To meet customer demand, the company has introduced new rating thermal sets of 150 MW, 270 MW, 525 MW and 600 MW, in addition to 250 MW and 500 MW thermal sets. Notably, BHEL has so far secured orders for more than hundred (100) numbers of 490 / 500 / 525 / 600 MW thermal sets.
The company has also introduced thermal sets with supercritical parameters of 660/700/800 MW unit ratings. In fiscal 2010-11, record orders for seven Steam Generators and nine Turbine Generators with supercritical parameters were secured by BHEL from public as well as private sector utilities.
BHEL has been committed to the nation’s power development programme and has reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian Power Sector by equipping itself by way of contemporary technology, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and skilled technical manpower to meet the country’s power forecast in the future. The company has established the capability to deliver 15,000 MW per annum and further augmentation to 20,000 MW per annum is underway.
