Moldova, Russia Began Talks over New Contract on Natural Gas Supply
OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2011. The contract will be concluded not with Gazprom but with its daughter structure – Gazprom Export company. The group of Moldovan negotiators is headed by the chairman of board o the Moldovagaz Alexandr Gusev.
The group of Russian negotiators is led by the deputy chairman of board of Gazprom, director general of the Gazprom Export Alexandr Medvedev. The parties are planned to discuss conditions and volumes of gas supplies to Moldova and the price calculation formula. The contract is planned to be signed for 5 years. Moldova now purchases gas from Gazprom on the basis of the long-term contract for 2007-2011.
According to the document, that expires this year, the price of imported natural gas is fixed according to the formula, on the basis of the average price at which Gazprom sells gas to foreign countries during 9 months before the beginning of supplies and taking into account the change in oil product prices. Till the end of 2010, Moldova purchased gas with a reducing co-efficient.
The natural gas price for Moldova in the first quarter of 2011 totaled USD 288.71 for 1,000 cubic meters, in the second quarter of 2011 - USD 322. According to the preliminary data, in the III quarter it totaled USD 356 for 1,000 cubic meters.
