OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2011. The Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova, the Chamber of Trade of Parma (Italy) and the Italian-Moldovan Chamber of Trade held the seminar "The development of the agriculture and food sector in Moldova: The example of the Parma region". Participating in the event were: the leadership of the aforementioned chambers, representatives of the Moldovan Agriculture and Food Ministry, as well as Moldovan and Italian business people.

In the opening of the event, the deputy chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova, Tudor Olaru highlighted the topicality of the event, stressing that Italy is among Moldova's main cooperation partners. He noted that the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova has a cooperation agreement with the Italian region Parma.

The representatives of the Moldovan Agriculture and Food Ministry briefed those present on Moldova's agriculture and food sector, set forth the development prospects in these fields and presented the projects carried out by the ministry in cooperation with the Italian partners.

For their part, the Italian guests praised the organization of the seminar, stressing that the Parma region is mainly focused on farming and thus, making a comparison with Moldova in this respect. The Italian representatives also spoke about Italy's experience in terms of improving the production standards. The implementation of such experiences is meant to cut the expenses and the consumption prices, respectively, to extend the range of the provided services, to enhance the logistics' efficiency, to foster the research and innovation, to improve the efficiency of the sanitary and quality inspections and to boost the exports of goods' on new sale markets.

The Italian guests also made a comprehensive presentation of the Parma region, as well as of the Biological Trading Ltd., which is willing to launch its activity on the Moldovan market, described by the company's manager, Gaetano Galderisi, as "a very attractive market, with great development prospects."

At the end of the seminar, the sides gave assurances that such joint events in different fields will be organized in the future as well, and that the cooperation ties between the Moldovan and Italian business environments will be further developed.
