OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2011. It was spoken about reforming railway branch and cardinal updating of a rolling stock of the Ukrainian railways during working meeting of the President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych with the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov and chief of Ukrzaliznytsia Volodymyr Kozak.

The President set the task on acceleration of the work on reforming of Ukrainian railway that for 5-7 years to build qualitative passenger movement.

"We have continued to discuss the concept of global changes in passenger movement, passenger transportation. Ukraine for 6 years should change completely a rolling stock, to provide a maximum of convenience to passengers under the reasonable price", - Borys Kolesnikov noted after the meeting.

Chief of Ukrzaliznytsia Volodymyr Kozak stressed on that the railway needs qualitative variations, reforming and modernization. "The project of cardinal updating of locomotive park and park of carriages is already developed. Railway should be ready for qualitative maintenance of demands for transportation as passengers, and cargoes. I am convinced, that the assignment of the President of Ukraine concerning support of long-term programs of progress and the concept of reforms will be soon supported both the Government, and the Verhovna Rada of Ukraine. Acceptance of these base normative acts will allow "Ukrzaliznytsia" to become attractive branch for investor and to plan the work over a long period.

"It is a question of huge volumes of work, in fact mass qualitative updating of the basic rolling stock of railways did not occur since 60th years of the last century", - chief of Ukrzaliznytsia noted.
