OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2011. Holding "Metalloinvest signed the agreement on social and economic partnership with the Government of the Belgorod region, Stary Oskol, and Gubkin.

The agreement was signed by general director of LLC "MC "Metalloinvest" Eduard Potapov and the governor of the Belgorod region Evgeny Savchenko.

The document sets the main directions of cooperation of the parties on the issues of sustainable socio-economic development of the territories of presence of the Holding company.

Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant (LGOK, Gubkin) and Oskolsky Elektrometallurgical Plant (OEMK, Stary Oskol), units of the holding "Metalloinvest" are among the largest taxpayers in the Belgorod region. The tax payments of the enterprises of the Holding located in the Belgorod area will amount to more than 10 billion rubles in 2011 according to plans. The growth of the economy of the region is also facilitated by the contribution of investments of the holding in the development and expansion of production. Joint investment budget of LGOK and OEMK will amount to 5 billion rubles only in 2011.

An important component of the agreement is social investment of the holding "Metalloinvest". social investments will exceed 600 million rubles this year. The goal is to foster the development of medical institutions, sports clubs, programs of support of family, motherhood and childhood. In particular, the reconstruction of kindergarten №40 in the area of Dzjuravliki (Gubkin) will be carried out. Another example of fruitful cooperation is the formation and development of the innovative-educational complex in the city Stary Oskol, on the basis NITU MISiS. "Metalloinvest" also started the reconstruction of the main building of the institute.

Another important area of corporate social programs implemented by the "Metalloinvest" on the territory of the Belgorod region will be the support of the undertakings of the youth aimed at the formation of favorable socio-cultural environment. This support will be provided on a competitive basis. The efforts to improve the quality of life undertaken by the administrations of the cities in the region include, first of all, land improvements, reconstruction and construction of new cultural, health care and rehabilitation facilities, and maintenance of the quality of roads.

The Governor of the Belgorod region Evgeny Savchenko commented on the agreement:

- “We have signed the agreement, but, in my opinion, for the first time we came to this very, very specifically, I would say it is not a framework way. We put down provisions in the document such as the development and support of social initiatives, implementation of numerous projects for the support of motherhood and strengthening of the family, the development of innovation centres, and endorsement of science. So, it is a completely new level of relations between the Belgorod region, two urban districts and the company "Metalloinvest". And I am very grateful to the management of the company and Eduard Potapov personally, as well as to specialists, who prepared such a good document, which will systematize our further work”.
