OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2011. Shengli Oil Field, the largest oil field under Sinopec, Asia’s largest oil refiner, produced 13.5 million metric tons of crude oil in the first half of this year or 549,284 barrels daily, said the oil giant.

The company did not give any comparable figures.

Sinopec aims to make the oilfield’s crude oil output this year steady at 27.34 million metric tons or 549,047 barrels daily.

In 2010, Shengli Oil Field’s crude oil output fell 2% year on year to 27.34 million metric tons.

Shengli Oil Field, after 45 years of development, is running out of oil reserve, but Sinopec said advanced technologies have been adopted to maintain the oil production level.

Since its discovery in 1961, the oilfield has produced a total of more than 1 billion metric tons of crude oil.

In the first five months of this year, China’s crude oil output increased 4.4% year on year to 84.8 million metric tons, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
