OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2011. Italy will provide Moldova with 1 million euros to revive the wine-making sector. The Agriculture and Food Ministry today signed a memorandum to this end with the Sviluppo Culturale & Promozione Italianita Association from Italy. Italian specialists will train Moldovan wine-makers to turn to account a 75 million-euro-credit, earmarked to Moldova by the European Investment Bank (BEI) in September 2010.

Before signing the document, Italian Ambassador to Moldova Stefano de Leo has told journalists: "This is Italy's contribution to Moldova's European integration via a sector that offers jobs and in which many employees are involved." "We are committed to implement this agreement properly and we assure you that both of us will be proud of the outcomes", Agriculture Minister Vasile Bumacov said.

"It is very difficult now, when the project starts, as most beneficiaries should be trained, the business plans should be considered very attentively," Bumacov said, referring to implementation of a project under which the European Union contributes to the re-launch of the Moldovan wine-making sector.

The memorandum signed sees that Italian experts will train Moldovan wine-makers in aspects dealing with re-organization of the production, marketing and sale of quality wines. Also, a part of the 1-million-euros Italian grant will be turned into account to promote the project.
