Ingosstrakh Paid out RUR 800 mln in Connection with AN-148 Crash
OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2011. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company paid out RUB 800 mln to Voronezh Aircraft Manufacturing OJSC in relation to the crash of AN-148 aircraft.

The expert panel appointed by the Russian Federation Ministry of Industry and Trade concluded that the crash happened when the crew, performing an emergency descending, caused an unintended boost of speed, which exceeded the calibrated airspeed. This led to the plane distortion and the increase of alternate accelerations beyond the plane’s safety factor, resulting in its destruction in the air and subsequent land collision.
Ingosstrakh Insurance Company leads the Russian airline insurance. In 2010, the amount of our premiums received in this sector grew by 16 percent compared to 2008, thus reaching RUB 2.1 bn, including RUB 1.202 bn of direct insurance premiums. The total amount of our settlements in the air industry makes RUB 359 mln.
The list of our largest settlements, among others, includes: RUB 31 mln in connection with the Mi-8T helicopter collision with the Afghanistan mountain; RUB 19 mln, complete constructive loss of the Mi-8T helicopter, resulting from its emergency landing at the area of the Talakan deposit; and RUB 16 mln, the damage of the nose landing gear of the RUSLAN AN-124-100 aircraft at Chandigarh airport, India.
The amount of RUB 800 mln in connection with the AN-148-100E aircraft crash became the biggest pay-out in the last five years.
