OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2011. Steel pipe and railway wheel company Interpipe is sponsoring a team from The Minsk Automobile Plant (MAP) on the rally-marathon "Silk Way – Dakar Series". The rally will be held from 9 -16 July, 2011. The route goes from Moscow to Sochi in the Russian Federation.

This year the length of the route will be about four thousand miles crossing three climatic zones. The drivers will not only have to overcome extreme conditions, they will also have an opportunity to discover new territories for themselves, get to know new peoples, cultures and the history of these places.

This is not the first time that the MAPteam has participated in the rally with Interpipe’s support. For the 2011 Rally, MAP has built new cars. The main features of the new models are unique shock struts and a super-light body, which will increase speed and cornering ability.

This year, we helped the team to strengthen their position and donated two new cars for the rally with 800 horsepower and a top speed of up to 170 km / h."
