Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway which is built in one-time, with the longest distance, largest investment and highest standard since the Founding of New China, came into operation. High quality silicon steel of Baosteel is successfully used for the locomotive of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and transformer in the high-speed rail line, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway is not only a project with the largest investment and highest technology among the projects of "Medium and Long-term Railway Network Plan" in China, but also the first high-speed railway with world advanced level. As the traffic artery between the two largest cities Beijing and Shanghai in China, Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway started construction on April 18th 2008 from Beijing South Railway Station to Shanghai Hongqiao Station, with a total length of 1318km and total investment of 220.9 billion Yuan. Therefor, the shortest travel time from Beijing to Shanghai is less than 5 hours after it comes into operation.  

The main transport locomotives on the railway are manufactured by two domestic railway vehicle companies respectively. Thereof, motor is the main driver for the vehicle. It is learned that there are eight compartments in total, four of them are used as traction locomotives with six motors for each locomotive. Besides, for the high-speed railway is designed in line with the first-class foreign standard, selection of the motor material becomes crucial for manufacturing of high-standard locomotive.  

As the manufacturer of NGO silicon steel for the motor, Baosteel started to develop the NGO silicon steel for the locomotive in 1990s and established a friendly cooperration relationship with motor manufacturers. Since 2008, with the rapid development of high-speed railway by the country, motor manufacturers has speeded up the development of motors for high-speed railway locomotive. Meanwhile, Baosteel actively tracks the user needs and guides the user to select material among its mature products through means of technology marketing. Through great efforts, Baosteel has become one of the suppliers of NGO silicon steel for the motor for high-speed railway locomotive. For these years, purchase quantity from the user has a different rate of growth for each year. In the past, the NGO silicon steel was successfully used on the locomotives of Wuhan-Guangzhou and Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railways. And now, its use on the locomotive of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway is also a success.   
 
During the construction of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, one of the transformer companies in Shanghai is responsible for supply of 24 transformers for part of the high-speed railway lines and 2 for Hongqiao Station.
