OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2011. Prime Minister Vlad Filat met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Hrishchenko, on a working visit to Moldova, the government's communications and press relations department has said.

The discussion was focused on subjects dealing with the bilateral relations, Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation on the international stage, including in the context of the European integration and Transnistria-related problems, other issues of common interest.

The two officials highlighted the dynamic character of development of the inter-state ties, and showed confidence that this process will continue in the same pace.

The prime minister welcomed the presence of the Ukrainian official in Chisinau. He emphasized Moldova's interest in boosting the dialogue with Ukraine, in order to step up the bilateral relations and promote the two states' interests.

"Over the last time, more important decisions for both countries have been approved, which were expected to be settled for a long time," the prime minister specified. He gave assurances that the Moldovan government will continue implementing the agreements adopted at the bilateral and multilateral levels. At the same time, Vlad Filat voiced hope that Ukraine will back Moldova in the problems of principle, and will further prove a constructive attitude to this end.

Filat stressed the importance to resume the activity of the Moldovan and Ukrainian commissions of inter-governmental cooperation and the working groups at the level of experts. The prime minister also underlined the significance to start new partnerships to promote common interest objectives within diverse international bodies. He referred particularly to the preparation for a summit of the Eastern Partnership, due in Warsaw next September.

For his part, the Ukrainian foreign minister confirmed his country's interest in the final settlement of all the problems on the agenda of the Moldova-Ukraine discussions, including on the border's demarcation, recognizing the ownership, movement of the air and railway transport between Moldova and Ukraine, etc.

"All the respective subjects need an in-depth approach, and are to be considered punctually, in order to find viable solutions in the interest of the two countries' citizens," Konstantin Hrishchenko said.

At the same time, the head of the Ukrainian diplomacy said his country is willing to support Moldova on the international stage. He noted that Ukraine is presently the country that holds the Council of Europe's chairmanship and will exercise the OSCE chairmanship in 2013.

As for the Transnistria-related problems, Konstantin Hrishchenko reiterated Ukraine's position, residing in the need to resume the official talks in the 5+2 format as soon as possible. The Ukrainian foreign minister said he will convey this message to all the interested sides, while taking into account that the official is set to visit Bender today, as well as on any other occasion.

The sides agreed upon maintaining a constant dialogue, in order to ensure an efficient framework of settling the problems and mutual support on the international stage.
