OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2011. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways’ network shipped 103.6 million tons in June 2011, an increase of 2.4% compared to the same period last year. Cargo turnover in June 2011 increased by 6.8% compared to June 2010.to 175.5 billion tariff ton-kilometres According to the latest figures, total shipments in 1H2011 rose to 607.7 million tons, a 4% increase on the same period in 2010, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The following categories of freight were shipped:

coal – 145.8 million tonnes (+1.5% compared to January-June 2010)

coke – 6.6 million tonnes (+3.8%)

oil and oil products – 125.7 million tonnes (+0.7%)

iron and manganese ores – 54.4 million tonnes (+9.6%)

ferrous metals – 37.5 million tons (+5.2%)

scrap ferrous metals – 9.4 million tonnes (+2.4%)

chemical and mineral fertilisers –23.6 million tons (+2.8%)

cement – 15.9 million tonnes (+8.6%)

timber – 21.3 million tons (-3.6%)

grain and ground products – 7.7 million tons (-14.8%)

construction materials – 72.9 million tons (+17.5%)

non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 12.2 million tons (-1.8%)

chemicals and soda – 14.8 million tons (+2.8%)

industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 14.8 million tons (-11.8%)

containerised cargo – 9.8 million tons (+15.6 %)

Cargo turnover for H1 2011 amounted to 5.1 trillion tariff ton- kilometres, an increase of 6.9%.
