OREANDA-NEWS. July 08, 2011. Russian Railways transported 91.6 million passengers in June 2011, 5.8% more than during the same month in 2010. Suburban passenger numbers rose by 6.7% to 80.6 million, while long-distance passengers stayed at the June 2010 level of 11.1 million, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

Passenger traffic in June 2011 amounted to 14.2 billion passenger-kilometres, 1.8% up on June 2010.

In 1H2011, Russian Railways transported 463.9 million passengers, a 2.8% increase over the same period in 2010.

Long-distance passengers fell by 1.2% to 51.3 million, but suburban passenger numbers rose 3.4% to 412.6 million.

Passenger traffic on the Russian Railways’ network during January-June 2011 increased by 2.3% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 60.2 billion passenger- kilometres.
