Ukraine Parliament Considers Bill on Pension Reform
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 07, 2011 the Parliament considers on second reading a bill on the pension reform. This is a very important day for Ukraine. The vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Social Policy said at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
"If MPs take this decision - it would mean that the country is politically matured to the need for reform and making unpopular decisions that would in the medium term radically change the situation for the better" - Sergiy Tigipko said.
According to the official, the reform of the pension sector would not only provide decent life current and future pensioners, but also free up huge amounts of money to raise salaries in the public sector, public investment in infrastructure, create new jobs.
Sergiy Tigipko confident that the adoption of the bill by the Parliament will allow increasing pensions from next year by updating base their calculation. This will increase the pensions of more than 60 percent of Ukrainian approximately 100 UAH per month and will be the first real result of the adoption of the pension reform.
Answering journalists' questions regarding changes to the bill, introduced after the first reading Sergiy Tigipko noted that all constructive comments of Deputies considered.
Among next steps of the Government vice Prime Minister named such priorities: measures on legalization of wages and jobs, preparing for the introduction of second pillar pension provision and adoption of the new Labour Code.
