Bakcell Introduces Youth to Industry-Related Trainings
OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2011. Bakcell, the first mobile operator in Azerbaijan, in partnership with Junior Achievement Azerbaijan (JAA) and Alcatel-Lucent Azerbaijan successfully continues Introduction to Mobile Telecommunications Business Program’s (IMTB) activities. Started in September 2010, the IMTB Program supports 45 undergraduate students with technical backgrounds to obtain work readiness and business ethics skills, learn about the mobile telecommunications through the industry specific practical training program, and apply the knowledge gained in the actual workplace through the internship program at Bakcell and Alcatel-Lucent. The program is implemented by Junior Achievement Azerbaijan, reported the press-centre of Bakcell.
During the program's initial phase in March and April, the students learned work-readiness skills and ethics at the work place through an extensive job-preparedness and business ethics training. In May, JAA in partnership with the Alcatel-Lucent University in Turkey continued students' capacity-building through the use of information technologies in the mobile telecom industry training program.
At the program's current stage, the students participate in the industry-related training program on the mobile telecommunications business. The training is based on a unique resource developed by Bakcell, Alcatel-Lucent, and JAA that provides a closer look at the work of the mobile telecommunications company. The program provides industry-specific academic knowledge and practical skills that are necessary for a successful career in the mobile telecommunications company. During the training the students use the resources of IMTB web portal - www.imtb.mobi. Presented in December 2010, the web portal provides online training assignments on work-readiness, business ethics, the work of mobile networks, and IT solutions in mobile telecommunications. The program activities will be continued with students’ selection for Job Shadow Program at Bakcell in July and August 2011.
“By supporting a unique Introduction to Mobile Telecommunications Program, Bakcell helps the students understand the work of the mobile telecommunications business and make more informed decisions about their future careers. Bakcell showcases a great example of investing into a truly sustainable initiative that will benefit not only the industry, but also the youth in making right career choices," says Rashad Khanlarov, Junior Achievement Azerbaijan Executive Director.
“As a key player in the Azerbaijan telecom sector, we understand our obligation to help prepare competent telecom professionals to further develop this fast growing innovative industry. We significantly invest in youth training and career development, which is our continuing commitment to corporate social responsibility towards the future of society. We want young students learn more about mobile telecommunications and get closer to this fascinating industry with all its career opportunities,” says Richard Shearer, CEO of Bakcell.
