OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2011. The Commission of the Federal Antimonopoly Service found that the Main Veterinary Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan violated Clause 3 Part 1 Article 15 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Earlier, on 20th May 2011, FAS Russia initiated a case upon a complaint of “APX Miratorg” Ltd. about actions of the Veterinary Department that unreasonably refused to export pig industry products to the Republic of Tatarstan from the Nizhniy Novgorod region.

The FAS Russia’s Commission established that the Veterinary Department issued No. 05/613 Letter of 10th March 2011, prohibiting pork export to the Republic of Tatarstan from the Nizhniy Novgorod region due to the problems with African swine fever in the region.

Governed by this Letter, the Chief Veterinary Official of the Republic of Tatarstan prohibited import of pork from the Nizhniy Novgorod region, which is outside the centres of African swine fever, to the Republic of Tatarstan, so it has resulted in unjustified prohibition of free movement of goods in the Russian Federation.

Having investigated the case, the antimonopoly authority found that the Main Veterinary Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan violated Clause 3 Part 1 Article 15 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”
