Serbian Business Will to Invest in Moldovan Farming Sector
OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2011. Acting President, Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu has had a bilateral meeting with Serbian President Boris Tadic. The meeting was held during Lupu's participation in the main forum of political dialogue from the South East Europe - the summit of the heads of state and government of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), held in Montenegro, according to the presidential press service.
At the meeting, Serbian President Boris Tadic said he sees Moldova associated with the group of states from the Western Balkans. "We view you as part of the European Union in a near future, and we regard you the strongest case of the former Soviet republics. Therefore, we consider that it is not wise that a recognized European prospect has not been officially announced for Moldova for the time being," Tadic said.
Boris Tadic also said the Serbians want to invest in Moldova's farming sector. To speed up the entering of Serbian investments, he proposed to organize a forum of business people from Moldova and Serbia. Marian Lupu accepted this initiative, noting that upon his return home, he will suggest this to the Chisinau Chamber of Trade and Industry.
The Moldovan acting president congratulated his Serbian counterpart on taking over the SEECP's chairmanship. He voiced hope that Serbia will contribute to enhancing Moldova's visibility within this regional forum, as the Serbian chairmanship is to give occasion for more official visits by ministers.
Lupu stressed the need to consolidate the bilateral juridical framework, including by speeding up the signing of an agreement on international road passenger and goods transport between Serbia and Moldova.
