OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2011. Following production expansion in Liaoyang in northeastern China, UPC Technology Corp., a leading petrochemical maker in Taiwan, will budget USD 125 million to expand output of PA (phthalic anhydride) and DOP (dioctyl phthalate) in Nanchong, Sichuan province, China.

UPC said it will set up a PA line with annual capacity reaching 60,000 metric tons and another DOP line with annual capacity of 120,000 metric tons, the completion of which will make UPC the global leader in PA and DOP production.

With a 30% market share in China, UPC`s DOP output totals 950,000 metric tons and PA 385,000 metric tons, accounting for 85% and 90% of the company`s total output.

Also UPC has invested in PVC (polyvinyl chloride) production by setting up a plant in Taizhou, Jiangsu province with annual capacity reaching 300,000 metric tons, with volume production to turn the company into an integrated producer of petrochemicals.

After 15 years in China, UPC has completed deployment of petrochemical production in southern, northern and eastern China, and is expanding into southwestern and northeastern regions.

Institutional investors predict UPC will score NTD31.994 billion in sales in China this year.
