OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2011. For successful introduction and development of the environmental management system (EMS) Nizhnekamskshina (part of the "Tatneft-Neftekhim" Management Company) has been awarded a diploma of the Republican "ECOleader" contest in the nomination "For effective environmental management", reported the press-centre of Tatneft.

A systematic approach to addressing environmental and natural resource management implemented at Nizhnekamskshina has been highly appraised by the jury representing the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the media, scientists and public organizations of the Republic.

The environmental management system of Nizhnekamskshina meets the requirements of ISO 14001 and EMS documents. Its implementation allows for pursuing the effective environmental policy, demonstrating openness for collaboration, improving the image and market competitive advantages.

The basic environmental policy principle of the tire manufacturing complex of TATNEFT is improvement of manufacturing processes and ongoing monitoring of environmental indicators in order to minimize emissions of harmful substances into the environment and their harmful impact on human health. Over 5 years period, the share of the tire complex emissions into the atmosphere has not exceeded the level of 3 percent.

This is not the first award of the Joint Stock Company in the "ECOleader" contest. In 2010, OAO Nizhnekamskshina won the first place among the federal level enterprises in the nomination "Effective environmental policy". The Company has been repeatedly recognized as a leader of the other contests in the field of environmental protection among all enterprises of the petrochemical complex in Nizhnekamsk.

In 2010 by the results of the 4th All-Russia Conference "Ecology and Industrial Safety. Prospects for development of economic mechanisms of environmental protection", held in St. Petersburg, OAO Nizhnekamskshina was recognized as a laureate of the contest "100 best companies of Russia. Ecology and Industrial Safety" with the award of a gold medal and a diploma. R. Ilyasov, General Director of the company, was awarded a Badge of Honor "Best director in the field of environmental and industrial safety."
