OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2011. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the top managers of the well-known U.S. corporation Chevron, Jay Pryor, Vice President and Douglas Uchikura, President of Chevron Nebitgaz B.V. in Turkmenistan in the Serdar residence.

Greeting the Turkmen leader, Mr. Jay Pryor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to discuss the approaches to building up mutually advantageous cooperation during a personal meeting. Taking an opportunity, the American businessmen cordially congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on receiving the high international awards and wished every success in the fruitful activity for the benefit of the Motherland to the Turkmen leader.

Thanking for the kind words and expressing the best wishes to the guests, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that he was glad to welcome the representatives of the U.S. business circles in Turkmenistan. Emphasizing that our country resolutely pursued the strategy for expanding international cooperation, the Turkmen leader said that Turkmenistan stood ready to establish full collaboration on an equal basis with all foreign partners. The President said that particular importance in this context was given to attracting best international practices and applying advanced technologies to promote the development of the Turkmen oil and gas industry.

Mr. Jay Pryor noted that the U.S. business circles showing keen interest in collaboration with Turkmenistan, evaluated positively further growth of proved natural gas reserves and industrial and infrastructure potential which would enable Turkmenistan play an increasing role in the world arena as a leading energy exporter.

The Turkmen leader and his guests discussed the prospects of partnerships and the possibilities for collaboration in joint investment projects in the oil and gas sector. Focusing on the corporation’s intention to enhance bilateral cooperation, Mr. Jay Pryor said that Chevron stood ready to offer its services and expertise to Turkmenistan in nearly all fields, including oil and gas exploration and extraction, processing and transportation, petrochemical industry, offshore operations.

Showing keen interest in the company’s proposals, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan intended to consider them and study thoroughly as consistent with the long-term programme for oil and gas industry development. The Turkmen leader also underscored the issues related to training Turkmen specialists as an aspect of Turkmenistan-Chevron cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Jay Pryor expressed gratitude once again for the opportunity of a personal meting and underscored the corporation’s keen interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan as the country , which had the tremendous energy potential and the conditions conducive to promoting mutually advantageous partnerships.
