OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2011. Until the end of June, kroons may be exchanged into euros in all branch offices offering cash services. This will continue throughout the second half-year - still without any service fee and based on the official exchange rate. From 2012 onwards, indefinitely, only the Bank of Estonia will continue exchanging kroons free of charge, reported the press-centre of Nordea.

According to the Adoption of the Euro Act, all Estonian commercial banks are obliged to exchange Estonian kroons into euros based on the official rate (EUR 1 = EEK 15.6466) without any limitations and free of charge during the first half of 2011. By now, the major commercial banks have informed the central bank that they will continue to offer customers the opportunity of exchanging kroons through their large branch office network throughout the second half of the year. Among them, Nordea will continue the service as well.
