POSOCO Organises Workshop on Renewable Energy Certificate Mechanism

The workshop was attended by over 350 participants from State Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Regional Power Committees, Renewable Energy Generators/ Investors, Bankers, State Agencies, Power Exchanges, Discoms, Consultants, Academia and various other corporate and government entities. This workshop aimed at discussing and sharing various ideas, concepts and concerns pertaining to the Renewable Energy Certificate Mechanism.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr Pramod Deo, Chairperson, CERC who emphasised the need for further impetus on promoting renewable energy and fully harnessing the RE potential of the country. He also highlighted the importance of a stable RPO regime and effective compliance mechanism for the success of REC Mechanism. He dealt with the concerns raised by the stakeholders around operationalization of REC Mechanism and said that the Policy makers and Regulators are open to suggestions for improvement and refinement of the REC Mechanism framework and implementation.
The Programme included presentations on REC Framework, REC Procedure, Global REC Markets, and Operational Experiences of implementing the REC Mechanism. The workshop also included an active question and answer session wherein several queries pertaining to the Policy framework, implementation process were addressed by a panel comprising of Sh. Rajiv Bansal, Secretary CERC, Sh. S.K. Soonee, CEO, POSOCO, Sh. S.K. Chatterjee, Dy. Chief Regulatory Affairs, CERC, Sh. Ajit Pandit, Director, ABPS Infrastructure Advisory, Sh. Stephen Fernandes, President, Customised Energy Solutions and Ms. Minaxi Garg, DGM, NLDC.
