OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2011. EuroChem today announced that it commissioned the Gremyachaya rail station. Located on the Volga Railway, the station is another key component in the development of EuroChem’s Gremyachinskoe potash deposit. The station was designed to handle various types of cargo with the exception of hazardous materials.

With the opening of the station, the Company expects improvements in turnaround time that will lead to a fourfold decrease in associated costs. Additionally, the station is also expected to reduce freight and delivery charges for building material and equipment bound for the Gremyachinskoe potash deposit. Freight cars with cargo for EuroChem-Volgakaliy and Volga-RemStroiService, two EuroChem subsidiaries currently developing the future potash production site, are already taking advantage of the newly built station’s flexibility and proximity.

The South Territorial Administration, Federal Agency for Railway Transport, and Volga Railroad unanimously view the opening of the station as a significant step forward in the development of the Southern Federal District’s transportation system.

Engineering documentation for the construction of the second stage of the Gremyachinskoe rail infrastructure is currently being finalised.
